My father was a Sergeant with Company B, 2nd Battalion of the 22nd Infantry Division during the Vietnam War from May 9, 1969 to May 7, 1971. My father was awarded several metals for his bravery: the National Defense Service Medal, two Vietnam Service Medals with three Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals, the Army Commendation Medal with V Device, the Combat Infantryman Badge, two Bronze Star Medals with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Civil Actions Medal, Marksman with a Rifle pin…. and the medal he was most proud of, the Purple Heart.
